چکیده

Background Regional ventricular elasticity is altered in ischemic heart disease and LV hypertrophy, potentially contributing to and sustaining a ventricular remodeling process. Conventional methods to measure regional ventricular elasticity in preclinical animal models require high fidelity ventricular pressure measurement, sonomicrometry transducers and dynamic modulation of preload. These procedures are highly invasive and provide only limited regional information; patient studies are prohibitive. We dynamically measure global LV elastance using undersampled radial real-time MRI and seek to find regional LV elastance in these studies. This requires tracking LV motion derived from wall thickness measurements in a large number of real-time image frames at high accuracy. We assessed several motion tracking algorithms and characterize their fidelity with respect to true motion labeled by experts and sensitivity to residual radial streak artifact.

Rapid quantification of stroke volume using magnetohydrodynamic voltages in 3T MRI: a feasibility study

Background The Electrocardiogram (ECG) is a standard clinical tool for cardiac physiological monitoring, required for cardiac synchronization during cardiac MRI, despite signal artifacts resulting from Magnetohydrodynamic voltages (VMHD). VMHD becomes significant during systole when rapidly ejected blood from the left ventricle into the aortic arch interacts with the strong magnetic field (B0) ...

Quantification of left ventricular ejection fraction using through-time radial GRAPPA for real-time imaging

Background Cardiac MRI requires a steady cardiac rhythm for ECGgating, and multiple breath-holds to minimize respiratory artifacts. By employing a non-Cartesian parallel imaging in form of through-time radial GRAPPA [1], accelerated imaging can be performed with temporal resolutions of < 50 ms, obviating the need for gating or breath-holding. breath-holding. We tested the hypothesis that volume...

Real-time cardiovascular PC imaging using undersampled radial FLASH and nonlinear inverse reconstruction

Introduction: Velocity-encoded phase-contrast MRI is a well established method for quantitative mapping of flow velocities. Cardiac MRI studies commonly rely on ECG and respiration synchronized cine acquisitions of multiple heartbeats either in the state of free breathing or suspended respiration. This approach may be affected with temporal and/or spatial averaging of phase information obtained...

Quantification of Right and Left Ventricular Function with Real-time Three-dimensional Ultrasound

Abstroct-This paper presents a study for validation of real-time three-dimensional ultrasound as a diagnostic tool in patients with primary pulmonary hypertension. Dynamic analysis of the heart is performed via quantification of right and left ventricle volumes. Segmentation of ventricular cavities is performed via a deformable-model for a set of denoised frames spread over an entire cardiac cy...

Comparison of Cardiac Function in Young Patients with Thalassemia Intermedia and Healthy Individuals Using Echocardiography Method

Background: Cardiac dysfunction due to chronic anemia and hemosiderosis are the major causes of death among patients with thalassemia intermedia. This study was performed to compare the cardiac function in thalassemia intermedia patients with normal subjects by means of echocardiography. Materials and Methods: This was a case-control study performed on 22 patients affected by thalassemia int...
